DIY Glitter Mason Jar

So I'm slowing converting my room from Turquoise, Yellow, and Gray to Black, Gold, and a hint of Turquoise! I saw these fun little mason jars covered in gold glitter on Pinterest and decided to take on the project!

Things you'll need-
•Gold Glitter (or glitter of your choice)
•Glue
•Paint Brush
•Paper Plate
•Mason Jar (not pictured)
• Mod Podge Sealant (not pictured)

So this DIY is suuuuper quick and simple! I started by brushing on Elmer's glue on two sides of the jar.

Then, sprinkle some glitter on them and gently shake the jar so the excess will fall off.
Repeat on the remaining 2 sides.

Let it dry for about 20 minutes and spray sealant so the glitter doesn't come off!

Here is my final product
Add some fake hydrangeas and set them out as cute decor!

Aaaanndd you're done!
Yep, that was it! Simple, right?

something BLUE!

So today after work I decided to hit up Hobby Lobby to get some blue acrylic paint to paint the bottom of my wedding shoes! So here's how I did it!
Things you'll need-
•rubbing alcohol
•cotton ball
•paint brush
•acrylic paint
•your wedding shoes
•custom decals (optional)

Okay so I started off by cleaning off the soles with rubbing alcohol.. These are fairly new but I still did it anyways! Let that dry completely (about 5 mins).

I used "Spa Blue" by Americana acrylic paint to paint the soles. This paint dries fairly fast too. It took me about 2 coats surprisingly!
The bottom of these were originally red too! (I'm assuming they were trying to copy Christian Louboutin!)

After first coat.

I let the first coat dry for about 10 mins.. Again, this paint dries REALLY fast!
After the second coat, I couldn't see any more red so I just called it good!
Here they are after the second coat drying!

I let them dry for another 10 mins. I ordered some custom decals for the bottom of my shoes just for fun. Also looks really cute in pictures! :)
Here's my final product!! IM IN LOVE!! It turned out so perfect!

I love my something blue! 💙

P.S. For those wondering, I got my shoes on AliExpress.com, they came from somewhere in China.. Took well over 1 month to get here, BUT I only paid $18.99 for them!! So overall, I spent about $30 on this project :)
Shoe Decals were bought on Etsy from the shop CraftilyEverAfterIL!

Junk Hippy: the Finds & the Outcomes!

So Junk Hippy was in town this Saturday.. Wow oh wow!!! Soo many goodies in one building! Wish I could buy everything but I was there on a mission- to get stuff for the wedding! I got an old suitcase & a HUGE letter M [for my soon to be last name, Middleton ;)]
That's the before on the left, and the after on the right! My wedding colors are pastels so the mint was perfect!! I had so much fun making this box and so pleased with the outcome! :) the best part was that I only spent about $35 making it! Way better then buying one from Etsy for $150

There's my 24" M!!!! It was only $13 and $3.99 for the spray paint! It'll be making an appearance on my popcorn bar table!! Eeeeeekkk!!! I'm sooo excited to start crafting for that table! So many cute ideas flowing through this brain, ha!!

I'm overall so happy with how everything turned out! I can't wait to start on some more projects and share them with you all!

HOW TO: Chalk Paint & Antiquing

Okay, so a few people have been asking me how I painted my door, and how I got it to look vintage-y & old. Well, it's really simple!

What you'll need-
•Plaster of Paris
•Paint of your Choice (I chose Turquoise.. duh!)
•Minwax Finishing Wax
•Paintbrush
•2 Bowls
•Rust-O-Leum antiquing glaze (not pictured)
•An old rag
•Plastic to lay out
•Masking Tape.. Some of you might not need this.
•Patience
Oh and Starbucks.. But that's optional! ;)

I went to Home Depot and bought all my supplies (it was pretty cheap.. $50 for everything!) I used the Behr interior eggshell paint in Cozumel. I've been on Pinterest wondering how to make chalk paint since I've never done it before. Well... It might be my new favorite! All you need is Plaster of Paris, and a little water! That's it! Way cheaper and you get a lot more bang for your buck by making your own. A quart usually runs about 35-40 dollars for the actual stuff (I'm cheap!) and it gets the job done just the same if not better.

Mixing the paint with plaster:
ITS SIMPLE! Heres the recipe I used! :)
Grab 2 bowls- mix the plaster & water in one and then pour paint in the other bowl. Then combine the plaster with the paint.

If your door has glass, like mine, you're going to have to tape it off so you don't get paint everywhere! Don't forget to tape off the hardware and lay out plastic so your paint doesn't get all over the floor!

Now it's time to clean off the door and start the painting process!
I just got a damp rag and cleaned the door off, let dry and now you may begin! I also heard that you don't need to sand anything with chalk paint (another perk, sanding really SUCKS!)

I found a technique that did help me on how to paint doors since you don't want ugly lines showing. This is what worked best for me.
I applied the first coat, and since my door is metal it absorbed a lot of it.. Really quick, too! I let it dry for about 2 hours and moved on the the next coat! I get really impatient and very excited, LOL!
This was right after the first coat!

This is after the second coat! It was all dry and ready for the antiquing to begin! Also known as my favorite part!!! :)

I didn't get a picture of me actually doing the antiquing.. It gets pretty messy! But I do have some pictures of it after it was all done!

I used the Rust-O-Leum brown glaze to create the antique look. There's a story behind why I didn't get a picture of it.. Blame my father!! But I finally found it hidden in the backyard shed!
Apply the glaze in the corners and let it sit for about 5 minutes or so then wipe off with a moist rag. Try not to wipe the corners so that way it'll leave the glaze there!

Apply the glaze all over the door (FOLLOW THE SAME PAINTING PATTERN! It's important!!) and wipe off.
And you're DONE!

Wait overnight and let everything dry and then apply the wax. You'll need a rag to do this! I haven't got to this part yet, but it's fairly simple and self explanatory :)

I hope I've answered some questions!

Happy Painting!!!

Rainy days calls for a little DIY

So lately I've been DYING to paint our front door. White is so plain and boring... And for those who know me I'm definitely neither of those! I finally got my parents to agree on a color.. My favorite color! TURQUOISE! I was so pumped i could barely go to bed last night, the creative juices were definitely flowing!

I had my first go at DIY chalk paint.

It was pretty successful I must say!  Plus I found that the paint dried much faster and matte (I hate glossy paint!).  I had way too much fun painting the door and watching the looks on my neighbors faces as they drove by to see me with a paintbrush in hand painting my door and blaring country music! Despite the cold rainy weather, today was pretty successful! I even made a burlap wreath to go with my freshly painted door! I'm posting a picture of my finished product with step by step instructions (since a few people have been asking) to follow in my next blog!

The finished product!

This was my first go at wreath making too.. I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome!

What are your favorite things to do on rainy days?
